Handmade Sterling Silver 1.5 inch Maiden, Mother, or Crone Goddess Pendant featuring 12mm Pentacle

As the essence of the divine feminine, the Goddess is associated with both the Earth and Moon. As the Earth Mother, she represents the grounded, physical energy that allows all life to take root and flourish, and is associated with domesticated animals, fields and crops. Her energy is nurturing and tender, flexible and pliable as she makes possible the manifestation of all change. As both mother and partner of the God, her cycles of planting, growth, and death keep the Wheel of the Year turning, clearing away the old and bringing forth the new in the timeless co-creation between this divine pair. In addition to the Greek goddess Gaia, common aspects of the Goddess in her Earth Mother role include the Egyptian Isis and the Celtic Brighid. The Goddess Symbols here represent the 3 common aspects of the Goddess as Maiden, Mother, and Crone.

Often associated with the Goddess symbol is the Pentacle, often used to represent earth, harmony and equality. The five-pointed star is an ancient symbol, found in both Eastern and Western cultures, and has been used to represent various aspects of human and spiritual concerns. As an Earth-related symbol, it is associated in classic Tarot decks with abundance. Its use in paganism comes from traditions of ceremonial magic. Each point is said to represent an element: Air, Earth, Fire, and Water, with the fifth element (Spirit or Akasha) as the upward point. Its round shape and Earth associations make it sacred to the Goddess.

When creating one of these pendants I begin by carving a unique wax model which is then cast in 100% .925 sterling silver. A Sterling Silver jump-ring is attached to serve as a bail, then the piece is finished and a layer of patina is applied to all the recesses. Finally the piece is brought back to a mirror finish on the raised areas to emphasize the depth of this substantial, solid sterling piece. All of the work from the design and wax model, to the casting and finishing is performed by me in studio.
